This document is part 1 of GB/T 18743 "Measurement of impact strength of simple supported beams for thermoplastic pipes"。GB/T 18743 has been released in the following parts:

- Part 1: General test methods;

-- Part 2: Test conditions for pipes of different materials。

This document and Part 2 of GB/T 18743 replace GB/T 18743-2002 "Impact test method for simple supported beams of thermoplastic pipes for fluid transport",Compared with GB/T 18743-2002,Except for structural adjustments and editorial changes,The main technological changes are as follows:

a) The description of the scope of application of the standard has been changed,The deletion of this document applies to homopolymer and copolymer polypropylene pipes, unplasticized polyvinyl chloride pipes, modified high-impact polyvinyl chloride pipes, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipes, propylene wax-butadiene-styrene and propylene wax-stylene-acrylic pipes (see Chapter 1),Chapter 1 of the 2002 edition);

b) Terms and definitions have been added (see Chapter 3),

c) The rationale has been changed (see Chapter 4, chapter 3 of the 2002 edition);

d) Added sample type 4 and sample type 5 for circular sampling (see Table 1,2002 edition);

e) Methods A, B and C have been added (see 6.2、6.3和6.4);

f) Requirements and test methods for notched samples have been added (see 6.2、6.3);

g) Changed the range of tube wall thickness corresponding to sample type 1 in method A (see 6.2.1,2002年版5.2.1);

h) Remove the homopolymer and copolymer polypropylene pipe wall thickness greater than 10.Processing requirements for specimens at 5 mm (see 6.2.2,2002年 版 5.1);

i) Changed the state adjustment time (see Table 4,2002 edition, Table 2).

This document specifies a common test method for determining the impact strength of simple supported beams of thermoplastic pipes。

-- Method A: Using unnotched samples, the result is expressed as a percentage of the number of damaged samples to the total number of samples。

-- Method B: Use a single notch sample and express the result by impact strength。

-- Method C: Using double-notched samples, the results are expressed in terms of impact strength。

This document is applicable to the measurement of impact strength of thermoplastic pipe simple supported beam。
